Fire features built for North Texas

The build has to fit North Texas too. Clay soil shifts, so the masonry sits on a solid footing. Wind matters here — we place the fire and the chimney so smoke leaves the party. Cities set clearance rules for how far a fire feature sits from the house and the fence. Gas work needs a permit in most towns, and many neighborhoods want HOA approval. Gas starts at the push of a button, makes no smoke, and usually stays legal during burn bans. Wood gives you the crackle and smell of a real campfire. It also means hauling logs and clearing ash. We build both, and we'll help you pick for how you'll actually use it.
Usually, yes. Most cities require a permit for a permanent fire feature, and gas work almost always needs one. Many neighborhoods want HOA approval too. We'll flag what your build needs and what your city requires. You choose whether we pull the permit or you do, and the permit fee is yours either way. We can help with the HOA paperwork.
Your city's code sets the exact number. Most fall between 10 and 25 feet from the house, the fence, or anything that burns. Wind, trees, and seating play into placement too. We sort all of that out in the design, so the spot is both legal and comfortable.
Gas features usually can — most bans target wood smoke and open flames, not controlled gas burners. Wood-burning fires usually can't until the ban lifts. Rules vary by county, so check the current restriction before you light up.
