It depends on the feature. A bubbling urn is one thing. A long stream with boulders and lighting is another. Size, stone, and the pump system set the price. We look at the space first, then give you a written price before we start.
Not when they're built right. Mosquitoes need still water to breed. A working feature keeps the water moving. The skimmer and filter clear out what mosquitoes need to get started. A neglected, stagnant pond is a different story. That's why the system has to be sized right.
Less than most people expect, if it's built well. Topping off the water in summer, emptying the skimmer basket, and a seasonal cleanout cover most of it. Pondless systems need the least. Generally, yes. The system recirculates the same water on a closed loop instead of drawing fresh water as it runs. Evaporation top-offs are the main use. Rules can tighten in a severe drought stage. If one is in effect, check your city's current restrictions.
North Texas freezes are usually short. Many features run right through them, since moving water resists freezing. For a hard snap, the system shuts down and drains in minutes. If you'd rather not handle it, we winterize the system for you before freeze season.
